The final paddle with the temporary tape. For actual use the tape would enclose the entire splice section. If the paddle needs to be broken down for transportation, the type of tape should be considered. A super sticky tape tends to pull wood fibers off the paddle. I have tested tapes such as the white poly tape seen in the photos, electrical tape and Tyvek tape. Cheap Duct tape might be messy to remove.
