The Trans Canadian highway skimped when they put in the new road. The 12 ft shoulder is dirt except for the turnoffs. The road crews found it a pain and so did I. I usually just watched my mirrors and stuck by bike in the road enough so that people would shift to the outside lane. In general people were better than in the USA.
